A STORY OF WINE & FRIENDSHIP
Our story began in 2014 with an extra concert ticket and a phone call. After a night with the Counting Crows, a few bottles of sake and chocolate chip cookies, an instant friendship began. Thanks Kyle!
Wine House is a reflection of Nathan Luginbill and Nolan Merritt’s passion for all pieces meticulously crafted. Whether it is the movements in a timepiece or the stitch in a jacket, one thing is certain, these two know quality. And wine, they absolutely know (damn good) wine.
Combine a Sommelier with an avid wine collector, both with a shared love for hosting and hospitality, and you have the perfect pairing for a neighborhood wine shop. And so, Wine House was born!
Our flagship location was artfully designed to feel like home. As our love (and yours) for wine has grown, we’ve been lucky enough to open two more locations.
With spaces now on Haywood Road, Hartness and downtown Greenville, we are so excited to welcome you to all of our homes.
We invite you to pull up a chair, let us pour you a glass, and experience our love for wine together.

NATHAN LUGINBILL FOUNDING PARTNER & WINE DIRECTOR
Nathan grew up in a small Ohio farm town where he worked alongside his dad at a young age learning about the soil, animals, plants and more. It wasn’t until much later in life that Nathan would discover the profound role farming played in him wanting to take his love of wine to the next level. He began to sip, taste and educate himself more by reading book after book until he made two decisions: first, he wanted to go after his sommelier license and second, in order to fully love what he does everyday, wine had to play an active role.

Throughout his journey, Nathan has developed a deeper passion for wine and is determined to not only educate himself, but to educate others. It is his personal mission to continue to discover new wines and to show everyone how easy it is to enjoy, or more importantly, share wines with family, friends and strangers. That is one of the best attributes wine has to offer – it can be enjoyed by anyone, with anyone.

With over 15 years in both the restaurant and real estate industry, hospitality comes second nature to Nathan and his knowledge of food and beverage will continue to serve him well. When he’s not at Wine House, Nathan enjoys cooking for his wife Brenda and entertaining friends at their home…over a wonderful bottle of wine, of course.

NOLAN MERRITT
FOUNDING PARTNER & HOSPITALITY DIRECTOR
Don’t let this man fool you. While his day-to-day job might be running his family-owned trucking company, Nolan has always enjoyed having his hands in all things timeless.

If you get the chance to visit his home or just simply hang out with him, you will understand; he has an eye for fashion, home design, jewelry, art and more.
Wine collecting was a natural choice for his next hobby.
​
Nolan, with a little help from Nathan, has curated quite an outstanding collection of wines for his personal cellar. If you have the opportunity to sit and enjoy a glass of wine with him, you will notice he not only values the wine he is drinking, but the company he keeps. For him, wine is best enjoyed with family and friends, old and new alike.

Nolan grew up right here in South Carolina and is lucky to be surrounded by three generations of Merritts who have all put down solid roots in the Upstate. When he is not working, you can find him spending time with his two amazing children, Ella and Walt, who love traveling and exploring new places together. His spontaneity and love for traveling, shopping, or just enjoying a night out at a downtown restaurant, has translated to providing interesting and unique finds when it comes to Wine House.

IAN MARTIN
MANAGING DIRECTOR
Originally from Greenville, North Carolina, Ian has proudly called Greenville, South Carolina home for the past 15 years. Raised in the Carolinas, he developed a deep appreciation for Southern hospitality at an early age, inspired by the warmth and generosity of his grandmothers.
With more than two decades of experience in the food, beverage, and hospitality industries, Ian has spent the past five years sharing his passion at Wine House. He enjoys helping guests discover exceptional wines, sake and craft beer through thoughtful recommendations, pairings, and memorable experiences that make everyone feel welcome.
Outside of Wine House, Ian loves traveling to explore the food and beverage culture of cities around the world, always returning home with new ideas and discoveries to share. His passion for hospitality is something he also shares with his brother, a chef, and together they appreciate the way great food and drink bring people together. Whether you’re searching for the perfect bottle, curious about sake, or planning a special meal, Ian looks forward to helping you find something you’ll love.
BRENDA LUGINBILL CHIEF STRATEGY AND EXPERIENCE DIRECTOR
Brenda Luginbill, owner of cb events, brings more than 20 years of experience in event production, marketing and business strategy to Wine House, where she helps guide the company's vision, growth and guest experience. Throughout her career, she has led the planning and execution of large-scale events that welcome thousands of guests, combining thoughtful strategy with meticulous attention to detail to create memorable experiences.
As Nathan’s wife and Nolan’s longtime best friend, Brenda has been a part of the Wine House journey since day one. While she jokingly claims it's her job to keep the owners in line, her real role is helping turn big ideas into reality - supporting the vision, strategy and execution behind each new chapter of Wine House. Whether opening new locations, developing events or shaping the guest experience, Brenda's passion for hospitality and bringing people together is woven into everything she does.
ALLIE KNIGHT
MARKETING AND SOCIAL MEDIA DIRECTOR
Allie Knight leads marketing and social media for Wine House, shaping the brand's voice and sharing its story across every location. With more than 15 years of experience in event production and marketing with cb events, she has helped bring major events including Southern Roots, Holy Smokes BBQ Festival and many others to life. She brings that same passion for creating memorable experiences to Wine House through thoughtful storytelling, creative content, event promotion and digital communications that keep guests connected to the brand long before - and long after - they walk through the door.​
