Grape: Montepulciano
Region: Montepulciano D’Abruzzo, Italy
Farming: Organic
Dante’s entrepreneurial dynamism formed the basis for various industrial activities, and his belief in family tradition and in the quality of his wine provided the drive for further production in the 1960s when, after a careful selection of existing grape strains, he expanded production by planting new vineyards. Enamoured of a landscape that passes in rapid succession from the peaks of the Gran Sasso to the soft hills of Rosciano and all the way down to the sea, he was convinced that his winemaking enterprise could grow and be enriched. The estate – in which the first manor house was built and the first vines planted – looks down directly onto the ancient drover’s road from which it took its name and along which herds and flocks passed until not so long ago. Here, surrounded by olive groves, vineyards and oak trees, at the beginning of the last century Dante and then Enrico Marramiero worked to transform grape growing into winemaking, elevating wines from a drink for family and friends to elegant products appreciated around the world.
Food Pairing: An amazing wine to pair alongside sausages of all kinds which our good friends at Revival Butchery can help with. Also great with a richer pasta dish or stew.
